What a lovely experience Monday was. Shortly after my last post I left work (early) so we could make it to Tampa without having to rush around. On my way home I got into an accident with my agency vehicle, luckily resulting in no injuries and little damage. Unfortunately for me the line of people ahead of me slammed on their brakes in hopes of preventing an accident, which actually caused one---me hitting them! I wasn't going too fast so it didn't cause a lot of damage--but being I had bad luck Monday it got me a $115 ticket (no, I'm not exempt from tickets!!!). The good thing is I can take driving school online and it will erase the 4 points off my license (Careless Driving) and discount the ticket price by 18%. Yippee. I am not contesting it, though, clearly knowing it was my fault. The trooper was very nice and respectful.
Later that evening I realized I lost my ID Badge somewhere--God only knows where (
and I lost it good enough that HE probably doesn't even know where it's at). I've had a Lieutenant, Deputy and my partner, another Victim Advocate look for it to no avail.
What more could happen you ask? Well, I arrive in Michigan, after thinking my luck had changed with a perfect flight, to the lovely scent of my Lavender/Vanilla sugar scrub! We got home and found it had leaked all over all of my bathroom supplies--but the only thing that had leaked was the oil out of it! WHAT A MESS.
As of now, knock on wood 12 times, my luck has vastly improved. We arrived alive after our flight, so I must thank my lucky stars for that!
Anyway, maybe I'll post later.
PS. We're expecting 6+ inches of snow tonight with high of 8 degrees and low of -2! WOO freakin' WHO!

- A day in the life of... -

This is my first blog and to be quite honest I'm a little (not a lot) intimidated. My best friend told me I should start a blog so she could read it every day (which will really mean only when I post, because it will probably not be every day) to help catch up on my life.
I've called this A day in the life of...because of a series of books I ADORED when I was in 4th grade (Elliott Elementary School, Holt Michigan--Mr. Sumner's class). Anyway, they were titled "A Day In The Life Of...", shadowing different professions. I loved each one of them--little did I know I would be a "reality freak".
This is going to be about my life as a Victim Resource Adovocate (VRA, for future reference), including calls for service. (The names will be changed to protect the guilty until proven innocent). It will also include some personal stuff, like the adoption of my children, married life and my friends.
I'm leaving for Michigan tonight so I won't be posting until the first of the year, so Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!
Kelly
