- I just realized something... - Wednesday, May 04, 2005 When I was on my family website catching up, reading posts, I realized something. 16 days from today is my oldest stepdaughter's last day of high school. It gave me chills (still does)!. I met Mandy and Melissa in either January or February of 1997. Mandy was 9 years old. I've seen her through braces, perms, soccer, band, slumber parties, boyfriends, basketball...and I'm sure countless other events. I could get all mushy and emotional, but I will spare all of you. I will say that she and her sister Melissa have been and are the most wonderful stepdaughters (and daughters, too) that anyone could ever ask for. Most people cringe when they think of step-children, let alone step parents, but I have been truely lucky. As my step parents could both attest to, I was not the most easy going teenager. So, Mandy and Melissa, if you read this, I just want to tell you both how proud I am and how lucky I am to have you both as stepdaughters, I couldn't ask for anyone better!
